How Do I know I’m getting a good deal on Cereal?
Sometimes, it’s hard to know if you’re getting a good deal or not. Most of the time, you have to shop around enough to learn what the average price is and then go from there. In other words, over time if you pay attention, you will see the patterns and trends in food pricing and determine good deals. BUT THAT TAKES TIME and we want to save money now. I’m going to save you some time and money. Here is my grocery tip for getting the best deal on cereal.
Look at Price per Ounce on Cereal
Let me share a grocery tip I use every time I buy cereal. My professor in college taught me this lovely tip and I have used it for the last 15 years. He suggested to buy cereal at 10 cents an ounce. I can’t even remember his reasoning, other than, he had 10 kids or so and has bought a load of cereal in his day! Next time you go grocery shopping, try to get cereal close to 10 cents per ounce!
Price Range that is the Best Deal on Cereal
Realistically, you won’t always find that price and so I try to stick to the 10 cent to 15 cent per ounce range. On the contrary, there might be places in the US where food is just more expensive than Colorado but first try using this principle and then increase the price per ounce if needed. Please let me know about the price trends you find in your area!
I used to be quite the cereal obsessed individual. I had to walk away form many a cereal boxes that were too expensive and yes, it broke my heart but I didn’t break the bank! BAM!
